♛ | Point System LET'S TAKE A TALLY, SHALL WE? |
The main objective of each team is to gain control of as many cities as possible. As a member of each team, its each character's responsibility to earn points that go toward their team that will allow them to “buy” and take control of any city of their choosing. As you can see in the sidebar, there's a hover circle with each group's name and a series of numbers. The number is the current number of points that team has, the likes of which are updated weekly. At the end of each month, whichever team has the most points will be able to use said points to purchase control of another town from another team – should they have the number of points required for it – and all teams will be set back to zero from there.
“how do I earn points?”
Well, there are a lot of ways to earn points for your team. The first, and most simple, is just by joining a team. Lets say our first character is a Team Plasma grunt – that instantly awards them with five points, just for having a new member. However, if that character does not post at least five times before the month is over (unless the RPer has a valid excuse), the points will be removed. No making a bunch of characters in one team, only to never play them again just to get points!
Another way is by having control over towns and cities. Control over cities earns you ten points weekly, control over towns earns you five points weekly. For example – if Team Flare has control over Blackthorn City, Pallet Town, and Azalea Town, they'll earn ten points from Blackthorn, five from Pallet, and five from Azalea weekly. That's twenty extra points going toward their team each week, which can make a big difference at the end of each month.
Lastly, there will be weekly challenges put in place specifically for characters to participate in so that they can earn points for their teams. The condition of the challenges, as well as the points earned in them will vary depending on what they are – more difficult ones, for example, will earn you more points.
“why should i try to earn points?”
For starters, that's a large point in the point of the site. Obviously, we'd also very much like you to roleplay simple interactions, but a member's loyalty always goes to their team, so if they're dedicated, so, too, should you be! However, there's more to it than just “that's the site plot, fool, stick to it”. There are also special prizes to be awarded to winning teams at the end of each week. Also, characters who are awarded as the best member of their team at the end of the month are also given even cooler prizes, and your chances of winning that increase the more you post and the more actively you completely challenges and work toward that character's team winning for the month.
Any member of the winning team, whether they be a grunt or the leader, will be awarded a free level slot that they can give to any one of their Pokemon, a TM that they can use immediately or save for later, and extra points to be spent in the site store. Pretty sweet, right?
“how do we get cities and towns?”
As stated before, you buy them with your team's accumulative points – which, keep in mind, are totally separate from your character's personal points – but under certain conditions. Sadly, only the team with the most points are allowed to buy control of a city or town, and they have to have enough points to buy said city or town. To take control of a city, your team needs 150 team points. To take control of a town, your team needs 100.
So who decides what cities or towns you get? Well, since one city makes no difference from another outside of IC purposes, we'll leave that up to the team's current leader. If the leader is not being played, then it's up to the next highest ranking character: admins, and if no admins are available, elites... so on, so forth. Feel free to throw in a little in character flare to it, too; for example, if Team Magma wins, they might want to take one of Team Aqua's cities or towns just to mess with them. A particularly strategic leader may want to take from the team who has the most cities.
“what happens if one team keeps beating everyone else?”
Let's call this the mercy rule, shall we? Let's say Team Rocket, what with their initial lead, anyway, is on fire. Not literally, but for five months in a row, they keep winning by a landslide, and each time they win, their points just go up and up faster and faster and it looks like no one else stands a chance. After five months of consecutive winnings, we put a temporary ban on the whole team for a month in order to level out the playing field a bit. It goes as such.
Mercy Rule-banned teams cannot add any new members into their ranks. If Team Rocket has been Mercy Rule-banned, no one can make any new characters to be added into their ranks, and any WIP characters or pending characters will either have to wait until the month is over to be accepted, swap teams, or actually /reduce/ the team's points the following month by five upon their initial acceptance. So, after the ban is lifted and the new month starts, they'll start off five in the hole. They are not allowed to participate in that month's competition, so any points earned will be absolutely worthless, but are allowed to go back to normal the following month. This is simply to give the other groups a chance, and provides characters in that team plenty of extra time to roleplay in normal threads not related to point-earning challenges.
“where do we start?”
Since Team Rocket already had initial control of Kanto and Johto, it would make sense for them to have control of all the cities off the get go. Of course... that makes it virtually impossible for any of the other teams to really... do anything. As such, we're going to be reasonable. Since there are twenty towns and cities, but twenty doesn't divide evenly into six, each team will get one town and two cities, and Team Rocket will get an extra two cities. That way, it's a little more level a playing field, but still reflects Rocket's initial foothold in the region. It puts them at an extra, weekly twenty point advantage, though, so I think we all know who to be stealing cities from.
And that's all! For now, just start making your characters and we, the staff, will start coming up for challenges that'll let you and your characters push your team to victory!
