"how in the name of arceus did this guy become an admin?"
simply put, he's resourceful, and useful. artemis was originally born in johto, living in a small country village off the map with his father, who in reality was his uncle, but he has no knowledge of this. he was homeschooled from a young age, learning the history of the world and about its myths and legends, and of course, about pokemon battling. at the age of seven, they moved to kalos, for his father's work - which, artemis would later find out to be reconnaissance, thievery, and intelligence gathering for team flare, who he only started working for because they offered him money that would help him take care of his son.
when artemis was fourteen, his father's job got him killed, leaving artemis to one of kalos's orphanages. that's when artemis started to follow in his father's footsteps, catching the eye of team flare. like father, like son, the sayings go, and artemis was given the offer to join team flare. for a couple of years, he refused, preferring to work freelance in his heists, but come seventeen hebroke into an team flare admin's house approached a team flare admin, and artemis finally accepted the offer, starting out as a uh, honourary grunt, though he quickly worked up through the ranks thanks to his skills in recon and intel gathering.
becoming an admin took a bit longer, though, mainly because - can you really trust him? both he and his father were never really dedicated to the team flare cause, but artemis seemed to at least be enjoying the life of danger that came with being a team flare spy. plus, he seems to be a bit scatterbrained, and it's hard to tell whether it's an act or if it's actually him. still, the pros outweighed the cons, and such a strategic mind would greatly aid team flare in their attempt to take over the kanto and johto regions. to be honest, it's a surprise to artemis that he is actually one of team flare's admins, but he isn't complaining at all. he has no desire to be the leader, though. that's too much work.
