History
Ignace is a simple man of simple beginnings. He began his life as the son of a modest farmer in the grasslands near a forest in Unova. He was the youngest of three children, with two older brothers. While it didn’t take that long to journey to the nearest town, he found that he never left home that often, only going into town for supplies, trading, and selling when necessary. It was a secluded, but happy life even if it was plagued with the daily hardships of maintaining a farm. Ignace and his brothers were taught how to read, write, and do basic math, but none of them had any formal schooling outside of their humble home. What took priority was learning how to work on their farm. Tools and machinery replaced any semblance of modern technology, and they relied on an old well for the majority of their water supply.
Despite the country lifestyle considered rougher than most, not all of his days were bad days. Ignace would have never told anyone that he was an unhappy child. In his early childhood, lessons of hard farm work were turned into a sort of game between he and his brothers. They would play fight, make friendly competitions out of their work, and support each other through even sickness, injury, and hunger. All three thrived to make their parents proud. Life may have been difficult, but they had managed to find the joy in it. It helped to not know the luxuries they were missing out on.
Not all of his days were bad, but not all of his days were happy. At the age fifteen he met an emotional tragedy for the first time. Ignace’s mother died of an illness that could not be cured. The family’s home became a quieter place after that. As his father and brothers kept silently going through the same work routines day by day, he took it upon himself to try and bring some light back into their home. He was devastated by the loss of his mother, but he decided that he had to remain strong for everyone else. His own recovery from the loss came little by little whenever he could bring a smile back to someone’s face.
Life went on. There were more down times, of course. Around age sixteen, he watched as his oldest brother drifted further and further away from their family until he disappear from their farm and, as he would later find out, away from Unova completely to join a criminal organization in another region. He would not hear from him again. However, there were also better times. Later, at eighteen, his remaining brother found himself in the merriest of shotguns weddings after accidentally getting his nearby lover pregnant. Ignace found his own true revival in spirits when his beautiful niece was born nine months later. They named her Délia. Perhaps it was because for the first time in a long time Ignace felt like he didn’t have the weight of keeping everyone on the farm happy by himself, but the girl quickly became the sun in his sky. He loved his family, he loved hi niece, and he was generally in love with the world. The daily routines largely did not change aside from the addition of the two females in their farm household, but it was at this point that Ignace started picking up new hobbies, mostly to spoil Délia. He worked on repairing old childhood furniture for her and he even tried to learn to sew so that he could make little dresses from old curtains for her corn husk dolls.
Years passed and, despite the usual hard times, it seemed like tragedy had left them for good. However, in his early twenties he slowly found himself getting involved in the politics behind pokémon. He worked with pokémon on a daily basis at the family farm. He helped raise them, just as those same pokémon aided in the work of daily routines. Knowledge that pokémon were forced into terrifying battles in other areas of the world bothered him. Encouraged to pursue his beliefs by his father, he decided to join Team Plasma at age twenty-four. His partner in this became a Sawk he was assigned when he joined the team. Fighting with pokémon was a foreign concept to him, but he also understood that they had a cause worth fighting for. He did not train this Sawk. Quite the opposite, his Sawk trained him in some specific fighting styles.
Ignace was not the brightest man, but he had a lot of conviction and his heart was always in the right place. He earned the respect of his peers within Plasma through his hard-work and refusal to let his Sawk go into any battle he didn’t jump in and fight himself. The two always fought together when they needed to, stopping anyone from abusing their own pokémon through battle. He was eventually promoted to Officer, but the promotions stopped there despite his seniority over other members. He was hands on and didn’t want to leave field work.
He kept doing what he always did, even after he had been transferred to the Kanto/Johto areas to help extend their cause. He was also given a Pancham to help him. The only surprise came when he was twenty-eight and his niece joined Team Plasma herself. When he made the move to the new regions, she followed with him as a grunt. Now thirty-four, he continues his work with Plasma while taking care of his sixteen-years-old niece and making sure she doesn’t get herself into too much trouble. He has no idea what the future holds for them, but he has nothing but optimism.
