History
Other than his constant crippling anxiety Lake had a pretty average childhood. Well other than him deciding that having a mask on his face to hide it was the easy way to talk and deal with people. Few and far between have actually seen his entire face and its not likely that a lot of people ever will. This was really the only strange thing about him up until the point in time where his parents decided that taking a trip out to the ocean in the middle of the rainy season was a good idea. He ended up swept out to sea in the middle of a storm and nearly drowned and if not for the help of some water Pokemon probably would have. This has caused him a crippling fear of any large bodies of water and sometimes even the water in his bathtub.
A mixture of stress and not really doing much other than sitting around playing handheld games caused his health to decline some, making a lot of physical activity out of the question for him. He took to wearing large sweaters to hide the fact that he was underweight due to a lack of caring about his appearance. Eventually though he grew out of that, though never grew out of his love of sweaters for that continues even to this day. He hadn't ever really planned on joining any of the teams it just sort of happened. Out one day he found himself wandering off somewhere new and the next thing he knew he was in a uniform and handed some Pokeballs.
