History
Born and bred on Hoenn, Alma was an outcast from the start. She never really fit in with her family, and she was always picked on by her peers. Her only friend was a severely injured Poliwag that she found and rescued one rainy afternoon. Her parents were reluctant on their child taking in a wild Pokemon, but they soon discovered just how inseparable they were. With each day, she would tend to her Pokemon's every need, and even in its weakened state, Poliwag would struggle to protect her against her bullies. It seemed that Alma would get along with life, so long as that one bright light kept by her side.
However, Poliwag eventually succumbed to its injuries and passed away. Despite the little help and comfort that Alma's family could provide, things would only change for the worse. Her grief over the loss of her first true friend took it's toll, and she grew more aggressive as she aged. She couldn't help but repeat her first meeting with Poliwag in her mind, growing sickened at how other kids gloated about harming other Pokemon with their own. Some nights, she wished that she could just wash everything away.
Considering that she ended up running with Team Aqua, this was probably fate.
Alma did always feel like she was a child of the sea, deep down. The rough, adventure-seeking nature of the gang easily appealed to her, and the thought of giving water Pokemon a better home one day was the ultimate calling. She befriended and helped out a lowly Aqua grunt with some small crimes for a while, and from there, she was in. The early days were grueling for her, day in and day out at sea with small breathing room and a shorter temper. Still, Alma pressed on as she made her way up the ranks with strength and determination. She came to embrace the work given to her, and the people that she would call family.
Nowadays, she enjoys the good life of an elite member, pushing hard and breaking faces (usually at the grunts' expense). Her foul attitude and reputation for starting fights at the drop of a dime has kept her from moving any higher for the time being, but she can't complain about the respect she's given.
