History
Histories are tricky things, hard to say what's really important. For this one, many things are not. Gentry was born to a regular family in Lavaridge Town, with a regular little sister, and they all lived a normal life for a regular amount of time. He was not rich nor was he poor, and he was not happy but he was not sad. The early years are unimportant. That is why up until he was thirteen, nothing really mattered all that much in his life. Just one streak of normal childhood that no one cares about.
So we will move on to when he was about halfway though his fifteenth year. He can vividly remember when Magma swept through the town, banners raised high in search of new recruits. It was an often enough thing, an almost annual celebration since the little town was so close to the volcano and hidden in the mountains. Something seemed special that year, maybe it was just wanderlust, because he joined. Not much was to be gained from a scraggly teenager who didn't even have a Pokemon, though. He left home with them a few days later, to be given some cast off pokemon so he wouldn't be useless. A little Flabebe, hatched from some egg that had gotten into Magma's hands by shady ways, probably. It was weak, and liked to cry a lot, and was generally a pain, but it was nice to have a Pokemon of his own. He figured his sister might like it, too.
Rising through the ranks is and always has been a tough thing for him. Not for the typical reasons, like laziness or lack of skill, but simply because Gentry was too humble to take credit for a lot of the work he's done for the team. Even large projects he would always say that someone else put more effort into it that him, or say that someone else deserved the rewards, even if he had pulled all the weight on a mission. It stayed this way for a long time, almost seven years in fact. One of the longest lived Grunts, he was twenty two before he finally accepted the Rank of Officer. While is was a marginal jump, he is very proud of his new position after he has finally earned it in his mind. He takes his role very seriously, and in recent years is known as kind of a hard ass; the person you throw the really rowdy or new grunts under to whip them in line. While he has been offered another promotion a few times, he hasn't allowed himself to take it as of yet. He likes the babysitting and molding of newer recruits. He also worries deep down about his Pokemon, and wants to keep her out of harms way when he can.
this is the worst history and i apologize
