History
From an early age, William knew that he wasn't going to be Great. Instead, he just knew that he would be there to witness the greatness of someone else. And that never bothered him.
He was surrounded by Flare members since he was born, his parents belonging to a unit of Grunts that would travel to other regions and spread the word. Trying to win recruits over by flaunting their good cause and all that. He and his older brother would participate on a small-scale, handing out fliers and being the generally cute little faces that people were more inclined to listen to.
Originally hailing from Kiloude City in Kalos, the Traffords jumped from city to city, region to region, with little regard to how it might affect their two small sons. Will didn't mind this so much, far more fascinated with seeing other regions and learning the cultures all across the world. Gregory, five years older than his brother, took it a lot harder. He was adopted in to a group of kids his age that all became Trainers at the same time, but they grew into a rough-and-tough sort of gang. Spreading the name of Flare with a bit more force than their parents had taught. This did not, however, go over too well with their supervising officers, and they were often put on probation.
William, however, did exactly as was expected of him -- and that was largely stay out of the way. Even after becoming a Trainer, he didn't journey off on his own with other Flare kids of his age. He stuck with his parents, aiding them as he always had. Only he started to take more of a firm hand with the propoganda. Organizing the rallies, formatting the posters, even writing several speeches. Never did he actually want to be in the limelight: Will was far more content passing off that onto others.
At fifteen, Will met someone that would be far more suitable for the 'flair' expected of his beloved organization. As an Officer leading a group of his own Grunts, he returned to Kalos to help prepare for an event in Lumiose City. There he met fourteen-year-old Odilon Laframboise, a charismatic brat that was simply everything that Will was not. He merely used Will's prepared speech as a guideline for his own, and, he would grudgingly admit, did a far better job delivering it.
A year and a half later, shortly after his promotion to an Elite, William was called back to Lumiose -- surprisingly enough by Odo. It was a request to be his 'personal assistant', which at first annoyed Will. So he declined. And declined the next three invitations.
Only after some months careful consideration did Will come to the conclusion that Odilon could very well be the person destined for greatness that he wanted to observe. So he offfered up his assistance as Odo's right-hand, and started one of the most taxing years of his life.
