History
Ever since she was a young girl, Evelyn was sure of nothing in the world but two things: first, nothing comes without a good portion of wits and a lot of elbow grease; second, that she could trust no one. Having been born and raised in Pyrite Town, arguably one of the worst places in the worst region to raise a child on all of Pokearth, it's not surprising to learn that these were the truths of life she learned early on, and would only have hammered into her skull as time went on. The second of the two especially, particularly when her mother took all their money and fled for Mount Battle and her father essentially sold her to the tyrants of Cipher working down in the Under when she was but a mere four-years-old. Tasked with being the playmate-slash-servant of the most fashionable Lady Venus – er, Lady Venus IV, that is – things took a nose dive before they even though of peeking their head back up.
Venus was as annoying as she was cruel, even from a young age. All day, every day, she had to have “Little Eve” within ten feet of her. “Because I'm so lonely,” she'd whine to the Cipher grunts forced to babysit the admin-to-be. “Because you never let me go outside and have any friends.” Whether or not the little girl was actually lonely and honestly in need of a friend remains a mystery, one to probably never be solved, but to the young raven-haired girl who would be constantly beaten and humiliated by this “friend” of her's, whatever the reason was no excuse for the result. The brat would cut patterns in her clothing, rip out the stuffings of the plush Pokemon her father would send her from time to time to remind her of why she couldn't be home – her time spent with the mistress was all to fund her father and brother's home life. Her hair would never get passed her shoulders when Lady V would stick gum right at that top; never a morning went by when she didn't wake up to count more cuts and bruises; the smashed plates and broken electronics that the blonde would mutilate were always blamed on her. Evelyn swiftly grew to hate her roommate, along with everything she associated with her. The color pink and grass-type Pokemon still make her want to punch a wall to this day.
As the two grew older and the heiress finally took over her mother as one of Cipher's admins, Vivi was finally spared from spending every waking hour with a girl from the Distortion World. However, still in servitude wasn't beyond the blonde to send her off on meaningless and frequently embarrassing tasks across the region. More years passed, and as the green-eyed Cipher grunt neared her eighteenth birthday, she came across something that provided an escape from all of the humiliation of working under Lady Venus. A technical machine. But not just any TM, oh no, a TM that alone would not only make her a powerful trainer, but the strongest trainer in all of Cipher, all of the region – perhaps the world! For a girl who dealt in facts, such a fairy tale normally would have never gotten her attention, much less her excitement. But she'd waited so long for an opportunity to get out, and this was her one-way ticket to escape. Fleeing from Cipher to search in Kanto and Johto was a suicide mission, but if her search proved fruitful, she'd be able to do away with Venus and being nothing more than a puppet for some else's strings forever.
Needless to say, she tucked Caesar beneath her arm and hopped the first train headed to Johto that she could.
It was there in the joint regions that she accidentally stumbled into the intricate web that was every team against every other team. Having gotten into a fist fight with one of the Team Aqua grunts, while still managing to kick a good few to the curb with her fists, it wasn't long before they were able to subdue her. Impressed with her abilities, however, one of the higher ups offered her a job within the group. While working for another organization (especially while still legally tied down to the ball and chain that was Cipher back in Orre) was far from a pleasant thought, a year of searching had done her no good. The chances of her finding this mythical TM would increase exponentially if she were to team up with people who'd covered more land or visited places she hadn't already. As such, while holding absolutely no love or loyalty to the team, Vivi chose to don the title of a Team Aqua Grunt. And as for how the search is going? ... Maybe try asking again later. In about a couple years.
