History
There had never been a time when Abel hadn't been at the bottom of the food chain. He wanted to be popular, he wanted to be good at something, and he wanted people to admire and maybe- just a tiny bit- worship the dirt he'd walked on. But his shining moment never came. Other kids in school or around the city of Goldenrod always found something to pick on him for; his feminine stature, his funny smell, and especially his withdrawn and hotheaded personality.
Just after one insult, Abel could grow furious and violent. But he was short, thin and easily overpowered. Many hours passed by where Abel was trapped in lockers or trash cans. He grew up being bullied by racists, homophobes and bigots. Because of this, he developed the same beliefs that many of them had in hopes that it would help him fit in with their crowd. It didn't. Not only was he thrown around, insulted and constantly having his sexuality questioned by these bullies, but the other kids who originally didn't mind him grew annoyed by his crude, judgmental words.
If Abel could avoid human contact, he would. It was easier to delve into video games and the internet where he could pretend to be anyone he want. At least through his computer, he could get a good reputation.
Without the help of his growing reputation on the internet, Abel never would have been recruited by Team Rocket. The only trait of Abel's that he took any pride in was his brain. He would call himself a prodigy, and swear his brain would only grow bigger as he grew older.
It was said that there was no computer or system that Abel couldn't hack- he may have spread that rumor himself. But he may have had the potential to make it true. The extent of his computer hacking never went beyond trolling websites, stealing mmorpg accounts, programming viruses, and changing grades for pay. He didn't want to do anything punishable by death. Until he was approached by a Pokemon thieving team who could pay him big money for it.
This, Abel thought, was the chance to show all those who had wronged him that he was worth something. He could get back at them, punish them and watch them grovel at his feet- begging for forgiveness. But he was back to the bottom of the barrel. He may have been recruited into team rocket, but he was nobody until he proved it. Who knows? Maybe he could rule the world someday. He didn't want to get too ahead of himself now.
