History
Umeko was a child prodigy in the fields of mathematics and science, when she was two she had adding and subtracting large numbers in her head. When she was three she had mastered long division. She skipped her first five years of school, starting elementary school in fifth grade at the age of five. Her parents pushed her - and forced her - to go through all these advance placements tests.
She was often teased and made fun of because of her age, and her heart grew dark. She often daydreamed about stabbing her classmates - not that she'd ever go through with it, but those were dark, dark thoughts for a five year old. She once stabbed a boy with an erasable pen who had teased her, she claimed it was a slip of the wrist, and the teacher had believed her.
She started highschool at age nine, and while her classmates had accepted the fact that she existed, they mostly ignored her and she made really no friends. She learned how to be loner, and never really reached out for such a trivial thing like friendship.
At thirteen she graduated highschool and started university, which she majored in engineering. She avoided the alcohol and drugs, and a lot of social interaction. When she graduated, she was lost. Her life had been defined by school, grades, and teachers. Umeko had missed out on a childhood, graduating at an age that regular kids would be starting high school. She didn't know what she wanted to do with her life, and while Umeko pondered, her life spiraled into chaos.
Her parents threw her out at nineteen because for two years, she had done nothing, hadn't gone to a job interview, and generally wasted her intelligence away. They thought a bit more tough love would be good for her. She lived on the streets for a few weeks, before she ran into someone who promised her three free meals, and a place to stay. It was a recruiter for Team Galactic, and the recruiter explained how they wanted to expand into space, see the unknown.
She was intrigued. She joined up, especially considering they followed her ideals of "the ends justify the means."
